After showcasing his Italian in the drama “Vincenzo“, Song Joong-ki took on the challenge of Spanish for the film “Bogota: City of the Lost”.

In a recent interview with Herald POP at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Song Joong-ki shared that he is currently studying Spanish diligently to communicate better with his children in the future.

Song Joong-ki recalled, “The production team brought in a Korean man who moved to Colombia as a child and has lived in Bogotá with his family for over 30 years. I learned Spanish from him. I think I was lucky to meet a great teacher, and my outgoing personality helped me bond with the local crew on set, which improved my skills.”

He continued, “I found the process enjoyable, and I wanted to get better. The rhythm of Spanish matches me. When I worked with local Colombian actors, simply memorizing lines wasn’t enough to bring out the excitement in the scenes. So, even on my days off, I would spend time with the local staff, trying to pick up whatever I could. I even used the Spanish I learned outside the production’s boundaries on set.”

He added, “I’m still studying little by little. In my daily life, I speak Spanish with my wife. Someday, my children will probably be better at Spanish than I am. Whether it’s Spanish or English, I don’t want to fall behind. I’m learning for communication purposes.”
